Turmeric — More Effective Than These 7 Prescription Drugs?

In hopes of easing a headache, back pain, joint pain or almost any other body ache, millions of people turn to over-the-counter or prescription drugs to do the trick. These drugs often come with a long list of side effects, including stroke, heart attack, nausea, constipation, gastrointestinal issues, and more. You may have heard of the health benefits of turmeric, but did you know that there is scientific evidence that indicates it may be more effective for treating pain than multiple drugs? Take a look at the following list:

1. Lipitor/astorvastatin (cholesterol drug)

A survey published in the R&D Journal for Drugs found that turmeric worked more effectively than Lipitor on endothelial dysfunction, the underlying pathology of blood vessels that helps to reduce inflammation and oxidative stress in patients with type 2 diabetes.

2. Corticosteroids (steroid drugs)

A study published in the Phytotherapy Research Journal revealed that the saffron pigment in turmeric, known as curcumina, had a better impact than steroids on managing an inflammatory eye disease. Corticosteriods can be accompanied by many unwanted side effects.

3. Prozac/Fluoxetine & Imipramine (antidepressant)

A study published in the Acta Pharmaceutica Polonie Journal revealed that turmeric worked better than these drugs in reducing depressive behavior.

4. Aspirin (blood thinner)

Studies have shown that turmeric can be used in patients that are prime for vascular thrombosis and in anti-arthritis therapy.

5. Anti-inflammatory Drugs

A study published in the Oncogene Journal found turmeric to be a more effective anti-inflammatory than aspirin, ibuprofen, sulindac, phenylbutazone, Naproxen, Indomethacin, diclofenac, dexmethasone, celecoxib and Tamoxifen.

6. Oxaliplatin (chemotherapeutic drugs)

The International Cancer Journal revealed that turmeric could be compared with oxaliplatin as an anti- proliferative drug.

7. Metformin (diabetes drug)

The Biochemistry and Biophysical journal published a study that examined how turmeric can be valuable in the treatment of diabetes. Their findings indicated that turmeric activates AMPK which increases glucose uptake, and it also suppresses the formation of glucose in hematoma cells. Their research indicated that turmeric was 500 to 1,000 times more potent than metformin in activating AMPK. The FDA recently ramped up their warnings about the risk of drugsand their role in causing heart attacks and strokes. They are now requiring manufacturers of prescription non-steriodal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) to update their labels with more accurate information about potential health risks. When you're in pain, it's easy to grab a bottle of pills in hopes of quick relief. But are the health risks really worth it? Turmeric ( click here for International products ) has been known as a natural pain reliever for years, and it's been proven to be effective without the serious side effects. The polyphenol in the spice has been shown to have hundreds of health benefits! Turmeric is not only safe, effective, and natural, it's also easily accessible and affordable. The anti-inflammatory power of turmeric comes from its main active ingredient, curcumin, which is a potent antioxidant that helps to fight inflammation. Turmeric has been used for arthritis, heartburn, stomach pain, diarrhea, liver problems, gallbladder disorders and more. It's time to seriously consider skipping the pills and sticking to a more natural approach to healing.
