When doctors told 89-year-old Norma Cook that her leukemia would likely take her life before the holidays, she wasn't sure how'd she live out her final days.
Following her release from the hospital, doctors implored her to seek 24-hour hospice care so she could be watched at home.
And that was when her salvation came from an unlikely place---her own personal hero: 31-year-old actor Chris Salvatore who just happened to live right across the hall from her.
Prior to her leukeia diagnosis, Chris had known Norma for some time, and even created a GoFundMe page to help pay for her medical expenses.
But when he found out she wouldn't be able to live alone in her home, Chris reached out in an unlikely act of kindness: inviting Norma to live in his home under his round-the-clock care.
Now, under Chris' supervision, Norma's health is exceeding the expectations of healthcare professionals and has survived past the holidays.
This unlikely duo also keep in touch with fans on social media, where Chris posts pictures of their fun adventures together:
Norma and Chris watch movies together and, on certain occasions, even sip a little champagne!
For Norma, her unlikely caregiver has become something like the grandson she never had.
