Coconut oil to wash your face? Yes! It isn't a stretch. In fact, it's probably the best thing you can do for your beauty routine.
Washing your face is hopefully already a part of your daily skin care routine, but what are you using to do it?
Facial cleaners come in all kinds of different bottles and can vary widely in price, depending on the brand name. They may promise to clean your face, improve acne, remove makeup, and leave your skin feeling hydrated and fresh, but many facewash products contain chemicals that could actually harm your skin.
The solution: an easy facial cleanser you can make at home, using natural products that will provide all the nutrients you need to keep your skin clean and healthy.
The recipe involves two products you probably already have in your kitchen — coconut oil and baking soda. The mixture is completely safe to use and contains no harmful chemicals or toxins. It has an amazing effect on scars, acne, redness, excess dirt and oil, and dead skin.
Baking soda on its own is a remedy against acne. It regulates the pH level of the skin and helps in healing breakouts. Coconut oil has strong healing, moisturizing and antibacterial qualities that beneficially affect the skin while nourishing it. Mixing these products together creates a safe combination, even on sensitive skin. Keep in mind that wet-milled traditional virgin coconut oil will provide the best results.
The amounts of ingredients used vary according to skin type. If you have sensitive skin, use the coconut oil and the baking soda in a 2:1 ratio, respectively. If you want to use the mixture as an exfoliator, prepare the mixture in a 1:1 ratio.
