If you're feeling overwhelmed, stressed, sick or constantly tired, you might be in need
of a serious detox. Life can get busy, but it's important to make your health a priority. Taking a step back to declutter your life and lower your stress levels can help get your body back on track.
Here are seven ways to detox your life:
1. Cleanse With Herbal Tea
Herbal tea is loaded with antioxidants that support your immune system and give you natural energy. If you're feeling sick or sluggish,
an herbal tea cleanse may be exactly what you need. Look for an herbal tea with milk thistle, burdock or dandelion to help detox your body.
2. Get A Massage
If you're feeling overwhelmed, stressed or constantly fatigued, make some time in your schedule for a massage. It's great for enhancing circulation to improve the lymphatic system, which works as the body's natural detox system. It will also help you relax in order to relieve stress!
3. Disconnect
Technology can play a key role in stress. Your computer is constantly dinging with e-mails, your online calendar repeatedly sounds an alarm for meetings and appointments and your phone rings off the hook all day. You end up bringing your work home with you and you never actually get a break. If you're overwhelmed, it's time to disconnect. Take a few days to yourself without any technology and do something that will make you feel refreshed.
4. Exercise
Exercise is not only a great stress-reliever, it also helps rid your body of toxins. Working out stimulates the circulatory system, which helps get your blood flowing and allows your organs to process toxins. Be sure to stay hydrated as well!
5. Take An Epsom Salt Bath
Sometimes, a bath is exactly what you need. Warm water plus aromatherapy
plus Epsom salt equals the perfect combination. Run a bath and add Epsom salt and lavender essential oil to
relax your muscles and calm your nerves. After a long soak, you're sure to feel relaxed and refreshed.
6. Declutter
One of the best ways to simplify your life and lower your stress level is to
declutter. Clean out your car, your closet, your desk... wherever you see clutter, tackle it. Get rid of anything you don't need and donate whatever you can to rid your life of all the meaningless "stuff" that has a way of piling up.
7. Eat Cruciferous Vegetables
Cruciferous vegetables are high in
indole-3-carbinole, which helps your body get rid of excess estrogens. Synthetic estrogens are everywhere, from cosmetic products to BPA plastics and hormones in the food that we eat. Unbalanced hormone levels can wreak havoc on your mood, your weight, your energy and your body in general. Eating plenty of broccoli, cabbage and Brussels sprouts can help detox your body and balance your hormones.
